When technology meets compassion — our visit to Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong

Last Tuesday, July 28th, our team at Axonex, together with Rice Robotics AGI, had the privilege of visiting Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong, which has been offering a "home away from home" for families with sick children since 1996. This incredible organization provides not just shelter, but psychosocial support and a sense of togetherness for families navigating one of life's most difficult journeys.
We brought along Floki, which is designed as an intelligent daily companion — capable of natural conversation, smart reminders, and educational tutoring. But last Tuesday, its most important job was far simpler: bringing smiles to children's faces.

The kids were absolutely delightful. They interacted with Floki, asked questions, and watched with wonder as the robot responded. But the most magical moment came when we invited them to imagine: if you could design your own robot, what would it do?
They picked up paintbrushes and let their imaginations run wild — filling canvases with robots that could play games, take photos and share to their friends, and even help their parents cook meals.

At Axonex, we talk a lot about the future of AI and robotics. But the visit wasn't about technology roadmaps or commercial milestones. It was about something deeper: using what we build to make a real difference in people's lives, right here and now.
This is what AI for Good truly means — not as a buzzword, but as a commitment. Whether it's through companionship, education, or simply a moment of laughter, technology can be a force for warmth and humanity.
A huge thank you to Ronald McDonald House Charities Hong Kong for the opportunity to serve and connect with these amazing children and their families. We left inspired, humbled, and more determined than ever to build technology that puts people first.
